September 28 and 29 2024, The Eagle Spirits of the Great Waters will be hosting our 4th Annual Healing and Gathering weekend honouring Orange Shirt Day and Canada’s National Day of Reconciliation. This well attended and highly anticipated annual event, marks a significant occasion for indigenous and non-indigenous communities alike. Held this year at the Cawthra Secondary School grounds, the event will resonate with heartfelt ceremonies, where elders share stories of resilience and wisdom, emphasizing the importance of healing and unity. The community, young and old, Indigenous and Non-Indigenous, will enjoy the many participants, adorned in vibrant regalia, engaged in traditional dances and songs that will echo across Mississauga, embodying a spirit of cultural pride and remembrance. Through reflective discussions, Indigenous food and craft vendors along with select workshops, attendees will be immersed in the local Indigenous Culture and Heritage. This gathering serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing journey towards reconciliation, fostering hope for a future built on mutual respect and understanding among all peoples.

The event organizers would like to thank the many volunteers (and volunteer hours) that have made this a great event in the past. If you would like to volunteer or if you are a student looking to fulfil your community hours please reach out to us at info@eaglespirits.ca with the subject “Volunteers”

With thanks for the generous support from all our sponsors:
